How to prepare for your departure?

Practical Information

Formalities

Formalities

Foreign visitors must check with the Algerian Embassy or Consulates in their respective countries for visa requirements (a valid passport is required in all cases). Currency is not limited, but you must declare it upon entering Algeria: a minimum exchange of 1000 DA per person is mandatory. You can exchange currency in Djanet itself. Please note that the weekend here is Friday & Saturday. Book your flights well in advance and confirm them.

Equipment

Equipment

Limit your luggage weight (approx. 15kg to 20kg without assistance). Choose a light and sturdy duffel bag, along with a small backpack to keep your travel essentials (camera, sunscreen) handy. Your clothing should be adapted to the season. Very light cotton for hot days, wide resistant canvas trousers and a hat: the local saroual and cheche are the most practical (to buy on site). For winter evenings, a very warm jacket and wool sweaters. In all cases, light and flexible walking (sports) shoes, and a pair of sandals. A windbreaker is very useful. Everyone should bring a very light toiletry kit as well as small essentials: flashlights and batteries, tissues, matches to burn your papers, cigarettes for smokers.

Health

Health

The Sahara climate is very healthy. Our tours are accessible to everyone, regardless of age. If you are undergoing treatment, bring your personal medication. In addition, we advise you to bring eye drops, anti-diarrheal medication, water purification tablets, adhesive bandages, mosquito repellent, and sunscreen. You will always have enough water for personal consumption, however, its use for washing must be limited. You can bring a small individual water bottle.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

We ensure maximum security (preparation, supervision, vehicles); it is in our interest as well as yours. However, this type of Saharan travel involves certain risks, particularly being far from medical centers. You must be aware of this when choosing your tour, and you cannot hold the Agency responsible for any eventual incident. Likewise, you must comply with the laws and regulations in force. The Agency will not be held responsible in any case for infractions by a traveler. Some unforeseen events (like a sandstorm) may force us to slightly modify our route or schedule; we kindly ask for your understanding.

Bring your own chargers, batteries, and memory cards, as they are not always easy to find locally. In Djanet, at the National Park office, you will obtain filming authorizations (amateur and video only). For Professionals: please remember to get the necessary information in advance from the Tassili National Park authorities.
